Overview

This project highlights my ongoing mission to revive older hardware by replacing bloated or outdated operating systems with lightweight Linux distributions. I transform forgotten laptops, desktops, and mini PCs into efficient machines built for productivity, cybersecurity practice, and entertainment — all while reducing e-waste.

Operating System Swaps

Linux Mint — Everyday Use

Installed on a family PC for gaming, streaming, and manga reading. Focused on a clean, simple interface for everyday productivity with media software pre-configured.

Arch Linux — Custom Workstation

Built for power and flexibility. Configured with Wayland for RustDesk compatibility and customized terminal, Conky system monitor, and automated updates.

Parrot OS / Kali Purple — Cyber Lab

Configured for ethical hacking and monitoring exercises. Integrated networking and pentesting tools with isolated environments for secure experiments.

RustDesk Remote Access Setup

I configured RustDesk across multiple Linux systems to create a private, encrypted remote-access network. This allows me to control, monitor, and maintain my devices without relying on third-party cloud services.

RustDesk uses peer-to-peer encryption and self-hosted relay servers, ensuring secure connections for my home lab and helping others troubleshoot their systems remotely.

Sustainability & Tech Recycling

Every OS swap extends a device’s lifespan. By repurposing old tech, I minimize environmental waste while building functional systems for family, friends, and community use. What started as simple experimentation evolved into a sustainable tech practice that merges green computing with cybersecurity learning.
